Bluetooth Connection was performed at Pancake House on July 23, 2022 for their Early Art Initiative, Fragment Performances 300 - 1000. Tricky Position (Naomi Crocker and myself) presented a large-scale, string instrument inspired by King Harald Blåtand's legacy of unifying fragmented entities. During his reign (958-986 CE), Blåtand facilitated the reconstruction of the Jelling runestones, as well as numerous other public works, and united the tribes of Denmark into a single kingdom. It was this latter effort that, over a thousand years later, would serve as an analogy for the unification of personal devices and the inspiration for the Bluetooth technology name. This performance invited audience participation.
